Airsoft, The Paintball Alternative

Mission Statement
In order to create a better airsoft team, and gain a better understanding of what it means to work as a team, MAT looks for and try’s to teach its players respect, discipline, and commitment on and off of the field. MAT works with all of its players no matter the skill level to create a tight knit group with one mission in mind, teamwork.

About MAT
MAT participates in games every month whether it is a team scrimmage or a game against another team located in the State of Maryland or travelling out of state to attend a National Level Event. MAT is a very safety oriented, we have several trained MD EMT’s that participate and always have first aid kits at every game.
MAT is an active group of people ranging from ages 13 to Mid-50s, with a wide variety of backgrounds, including those people with ROTC, Law Enforcement and Military backgrounds.
MAT has selected Digital Woodland (also known as Marpat) as our official team camouflage and is required by all members. MAT has also authorized the use of COLD Smoke Grenades, but may restricted at some of our fields or events.
The Maryland Airsoft Team mainly plays on Saturdays and/or Sundays. All our events are posted on our Facebook Page unless the event is restricted to team members only.
MAT has fields in Lexington Park, Brandywine, Salisbury and we are currently seeking a new field in Northern Maryland.

History of MAT
SMAT was founded, in 2008, by three core members, Brett Garner, James Winstead and Adam Buckingham. Adam and James have since moved on to other activities in life. In their absence Brett has assumed the role of General of MAT, and as more interest crew in more an more counties for an organized MilSim Airsoft Team, the team expanded and a name change was required.
In 2011 with the reorganization of the team, Southern was dropped from the name of the team, to now read Maryland Airsoft Team or MAT.

The Maryland Airsoft Team now has 4 active Brigades:
Central Brigade (Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, Prince Georges Counties and Washington D.C.)
Eastern Brigade (Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worchester Counties)
Northern Brigade (Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford Counties and Baltimore City)
Southern Brigade (Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties)
